THE HISTORY OF FISH HOOKS
For those of you who have come here but are confused, wondering, "What exactly is Fish Hooks?"

"Fish Hooks" is an American television program that was first shown on Disney Channel USA on September 3, 2010, with an official premiere on September 24, 2010.  The program was created by Noah Z. Jones, who, before he created "Fish Hooks", wrote and illustrated children's books.  Disney Channel called Noah Z. Jones and asked if he was interested in creating a television show.  In 2009, a short pilot for "Fish Hooks" was released, and in 2010, the show officially went to air on Disney Channel.

"Fish Hooks" revolves around three best friends: Milo, an hyper, energetic fish who loves to party; his brother, Oscar, a catfish who is a nerd and is less openly enthusiastic than Milo; and Bea, a cheerful and dramatic goldfish who dreams of becoming a famous actress.  The three of them live in a tank in a pet store called "Bud's Pets" where they attend Freshwater High with many fish like themselves along with other different species such as their teacher, Mr. Baldwin, who is a seahorse, and the school guidance counselor, Ms. Lips, who is a squid.  Bea, Milo, and Oscar deal with everyday high school problems at Freshwater High, but they have many other wild and interesting encounters outside of school...and sometimes even outside the tanks.

"Fish Hooks" was generally well received over the course of its run and was at the peak of its popularity in 2012 and 2013.  The episodes with the highest viewings in the USA were "Milo on the Lam" and "Break Up, Shake Down", both of which premiered on January 6, 2012 and received 4.38 million views, more than any other episodes have received.  The extremely high viewings could have been due to the fact that "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie", another successful Disney show, premiered on the same night the episodes did.  The episode with the lowest viewings was "Camp Camp" which premiered on January 10, 2014 with 1.73 million USA viewings, which is still a rather good number.  On average, most episodes received between 2-3 million views on premiere night in the USA.

The exact cause of "Fish Hooks" cancellation is not clear; Disney simply did not want to renew the show any further.  The final episode of "Fish Hooks" was delivered to Disney Channel on September 20, 2013 and aired in the USA on April 4, 2014.  The ending came as a surprise to most Fish Hooks viewers and was only widely announced on March 21, 2014, after the second-to-last Fish Hooks episode, "Freshwater Lives", aired.  The show ended after a four year run with the fish graduating Freshwater High, and high school lasts for four years, though whether it was done as a coincidence or not is not clear.

Strangely enough, during the run of Fish Hooks, ever year either on or around my birthday, a two-part special would be shown.  Fish Hooks first "officially premiered" on September 24th, 2010.  On September 23rd, 2011, "Fish School Musical" first premiered.  On September 21st, 2012, (my birth date), "Principal Bea" premiered.  On September 20th, 2013, "Labour of Love" premiered.  It is likely this is nothing more than a mere coincidence or was done because Fish Hooks first premiered around my birthday, though I would like to think of it as partially a sign that the show was trying to tell me something very early on...to let me know that it wanted to connect with me...to let me know that in the future, it would be more to me than just a pile of memories.

Did you think Fish Hooks was seriously underrated during its run on Disney?  Did you think its cancellation was unfair?  Would you like to see more adventures with the Fish Hooks characters?  Would you even like to see a movie?  If yes, then I would greatly appreciate your support and maybe someday I will be able to make it happen for everyone!
